Google Analytics
We use the Google Analytics web analytics service of Google LLC, as part of the purposes of the legitimate interests we pursue under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR and more specifically, to optimise our websites and the services provided through them. That company has been certified in accordance with the Privacy Shield framework, which ensures its compliance with EU data protection legislation.
The Google Analytics service uses cookies in order to evaluate the use of our websites, to compile reports on the interaction of users on them, as well as to provide us with additional internet services.
In particular, the service collects first party cookies, which contain data about the device or browser you use, your Internet Protocol (IP) address and the activities you perform on our websites. Please note that the collection of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses is done for our own safety and for the security of the service, as well as to provide us with information about the country, region or city where the users of our websites come from ( also known as “IP geographical location”). IP addresses, however, become anonymous so that they cannot be identified and are not merged with other Google LLC data.
The data collected by Google Analytics is transmitted to a Google server in the United States, where they are stored for 26 months. They may be transmitted to third parties, if required by law, and when third parties are authorised to process the data.
You can prevent the collection of cookies collected through Google Analytics by the corresponding settings of your browser, as described above in the section Disabling cookies. Please be advised, however, that in these cases the functionality of our websites may be limited and you may not have access to parts of them.
In addition, you can permanently reject the collection and processing of data by Google Analytics, which is generated by cookies about the use of the website (including IP address), if you download and install the browser extension that you will find here.
More information about Google Analytics can be found here.
Hotjar service
In addition, we use the Hotjar service of Hotjar Limited, as part of the purposes of the legitimate interests we pursue under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR and, more specifically, to optimise our websites and the services provided through them. Hotjar Limited has its registered office in Malta and is fully committed to complying with the rules set by the GDPR.
More specifically, Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand the experience of our website users (for example, how much time they spend and on which pages, on which links they choose to click, what they like and what they do not like, etc.), allowing us to maintain and improve our services. To that end, Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data about your behaviour, as a user, and your device. More specifically, it collects the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your device, which is recorded and stored only in an anonymous format, the screen size of your device, the type of device (more specifically, its unique identifier), information about your browser, your geographical location (more specifically, your country only) and the preferred language you use to view our website. All this information is stored in a pseudonymous user profile for a period of 365 days. Neither Hotjar nor we will ever use this information to locate individual users or to combine it with other data for an individual user. More information about the Hotjar service can be found in its privacy policy.
You can prevent the collection of cookies collected through Hotjar by the corresponding settings of your browser, as described above in the section Disabling cookies.
In addition, you can opt out of creating a user profile, storing data from Hotjar about the use of our website and the use of cookies by Hotjar on other websites, by following this link.
Providing targeted advertising services
We also use targeted advertising services, as part of the legitimate interests we pursue under Article 6(1)(f) of the GCC, and in particular, to optimise our websites and the advertisements displayed on them. The use of those services by various providers ensures the display on your terminal device only of the advertisement that is tailored to your real or presumed interests, taking into account your actions so far on our websites.
The provision of targeted advertising services is done through the use of marketing cookies. Recipients of the above data are the affiliated targeting service providers that are audited to meet all the requirements for the security of your data set by the GDPR. Information about the affiliated providers, the cookies used, the time and place of storage, including how to manage them has already been set out in the sections Categories of cookies and Disabling cookies.
Providing retargeting services
We also use retargeting services, as part of the purposes of the legitimate interests we pursue under Article 6 (1)(f) of the GDPR and, more specifically, for the optimal formation of our online offer according to your interests. As part of the specific services, marketing cookies are used which collect anonymous information about your navigation. These cookies are stored on your terminal device and analysed by an algorithm. Targeted ads and banners may then be displayed on our affiliated partners’ page, depending on your real or assumed interests. You cannot be identified and the data collected are not merged with your personal data.
Recipients of your data are the various affiliated retargeting service providers that process your date only as part of that service. Information about the types and function of cookies, time and place of storage has already been reported in the section Categories of cookies.
The purpose of using retargeting services is to ensure that only ads that are relevant to your interests are displayed. However, if you do not want our banner ads to appear, you can follow these steps:
- Select the symbol on the respective banner and go to the provider’s page.
- It provides information about the retargeting service and allows you to unsubscribe. If you unsubscribe, an opt-out cookie is stored on your computer, which prevents the banner ad from appearing on that provider in the future.
- Please note that unsubscribing can only be done by your computer and the opt-out cookies cannot be deleted from it.
Please check the terms of this policy often as they may be amended. Last updated on 16/01/2020.
