Improvement of mortars

RELATED MATERIALS

ADIPLAST Polymer latex for multiple improvements of mortars

I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS

In many applications such as bonding layers between old and fresh concrete or mortar, preparation of cement screed floorings, plasters, mortars for repairs, adhesives for fixing and grouting of tiles etc., conventional mortars and concrete do not usually cover the multiple properties that are necessary in order to provide a technically efficient solution to each individual problem.

As a result, quite often the properties of mortars and concrete must be improved, in order to correspond to the demands of each application.

II. SOLUTION

By adding ADIPLAST polymer latex, which is a polymeric emulsion, to mortars and concrete, their properties are improved significantly. More specifically it provides:

  • Increased bonding to the substrate.
  • Increased flexural and compressive strength.
  • Improved elasticity.
  • Reduced shrinkage during setting, avoiding cracks which would result.
  • Improved plasticity, water retention, and workability of fresh mortar.
  • Impressive increase of abrasion hardness.
  • Waterproofing of concrete and cement mortars.
  • Increased resistance to chemical effects and petroleum products.

III. APPLICATION

The main applications for which ADIPLAST polymer latex is used are described in detail below:
