Repairing of hairline cracks in plaster
RELATED MATERIALS
ISOMASTIC-A Elastoplastic acrylic sealant
I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS
Hairline cracks in masonry’s finishing layer of plaster:
Create problems at the appearance of the plaster.
Reduce the plaster’s protection against moisture and frost.
II. SOLUTION
Application of ISOMASTIC-A, high quality plastic-elastic acrylic sealant, is ideal for sealing such cracks.
III. APPLICATION
The hairline cracks, are widened, using a sharp tool (eg a chisel) or a cutting wheel, to at least 3 mm.
Dust and other loose particles should be removed from the crack with a brush or by compressed air.
The ISOMASTIC-A nozzle is cut at an angle and in a way that it cannot penetrate but lies on the edges of the widened crack.
The sealant is applied by guiding the tube at an angle of 450 along the crack.
The sealant should be smoothed out with a smooth trowel, while it is still fresh.
IV. REMARKS
Temperature during application must be at least +150C.
During the first few hours of hardening the sealant must be protected from moisture.
ISOMASTIC-A is naturally harmless and therefore no special precautions are needed.
